Cosfest XIV Singapore : Under The Stars
Cosfest XIV Under The Stars, held on the 11th and
12th of July at Downtown East’s D Marquee, was actually quite tiring
for me. With work and all, I find it hard to catch up with my passion, managing
to squeeze only a few episodes per week. So going for events wasn’t really the
first thing on my agenda. But since I took it upon myself to cover the event in
my last post, I will see it through. For both days I went at around 2 as the
previous day I had shoot very early in the morning around 4 and it lasted
through the day, so I slept like a log when I got back, after I break fast of
course. I went there with my friend for both days so kudos to him for
accompanying me as I once again became awkward for every event. Haha… some
things never change.
When we got there, I fully realized how incredibly stupid I
was. I am amazed that I have never forgotten my name. I brought my camera but…
without the lens… You guys can picture me smiling as I look over at the tent,
screaming internally over my brilliantly stupid mistake. But hope was not lost,
well not entirely. I brought two cameras along, so my Nikon cam was what I had
to use.
And I gotta say, both days had lots of people attending.
When I entered the tent, I was surprised. It was quite packed at the sides as
there were small booths located at both sides of the tent, where they sell
small trinkets, badges, drawings and much more. It’s like a small doujin market. I spend quite some time walking around, looking at various products
being sold as well as those being put on display.
Unfortunately, some of the pictures I took were blur. Being
hung up on the lens thing really brought my morale down. Or maybe it was the
lack of a good rest? Either way, the first day of the event wasn't as enjoyable as
I thought it would be. Haiz…

more alive having slept more that usual. My friend (I don’t really need to
introduce him anymore as you guys have seen him before right? You guys do read
my post right? Guys?), armed with my canon camera and me, with the Nikon, we
set off on our (my) journey on redeeming the shame that we (I) faced the day
before. Oh, and my friend brought his brother along, which was probably his
first event. (Welcome to the community brethren. Huehuehue~)

The second day was definitely more fun than the first for
obvious reasons. I actually managed to stay behind to look and listen to the
performances. (The first day had some problems with their speakers, so the
sound wasn’t pleasing to the ears.) I confused various stuff altogether like
calling Nuraihyon as Inuyasha, the song Baby Maniac with Sweet Devil and a few
more which I don’t really want to speak of. (My pride, it hurts…)
Well, that was Cosfest XIV Under The Stars. There were new
cosplays that were seen and new people that I’ve met but I’ll probably be back
to the status quo by the next event that I’ll be going to. Oh, there was an
announcement on the second day about a new Cosfest next year call Cosfest SEA.
It sounds very vague where it could mean for it to be with South East Asian
nations or near the sea, but I heard something about collaborating with some
cruise company. For now, they have not released much information yet so it’s
just me randomly guessing, a shot in the dark. Here’s their Facebook page if
you guys want to be up to date about such events. Once again thanks to my friend, Noramir, for accompanying me as well as being the second photographer for the second day. And with that, till we meet again.
