More on SNK

Konnichiwa minna-san. Zwei desu~ Aratamete Yoroshiku onegaishimasu.

It has already been two months since the end of 2013 but there are still some anime from there that has yet to reach its conclusion. But I am not going to talk about that right now. I am going to talk about an anime that is so popular, that it has fan bases around the world. It is so popular that you’ll probably see more of its cosplays in the future. Let’s talk about Attack on Titan or Shingeki no Kyoujin. But before I begin, a disclaimer, images are sourced from google.

I won’t be doing a review for it as it has already been done, but I can introduce some things about it, unless you guys know about it of course. (You may read the review here)

Let’s start with what I think of the anime. It’s a great anime and has an interesting storyline. Characters are quite well developed and the flow is manageable. It’s not the best anime I’ve seen but it is one of the top I recommend watching. What pulled me in to watch the anime was not its story, action scenes or the huge fan base, but the Director of the anime.

Tetsuro Araki

The Director for the anime, Tetsuro Araki, is someone I respect and dislike at the same time. Why? It’s because of waiting too long for the second season of High school of the Dead to come out. I just hope he doesn’t do this for SNK. A lot of fans will be disappointed if he does, unless you’re satisfied with the first. Anyway, Tetsuro Araki is without a doubt an experience Director due to his works like HOTD, Black Lagoon and Guilty Crown. But his famous piece would be the ever-popular Death Note and now, SNK. He started at Madhouse, a company that bore Casshern Sins, the currently airing anime Ace of Diamond and an upcoming light novel adaptation that will air in April 2014, Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei or The Irregular at Magic High School. He then moved on to Production I. G, which is famous for its Ghost in the Shell series.

Enough of him, and now let’s move on to fan-made SNK products.

Have you guys heard of Minecraft? It is basically a sandbox game that was created by Markus “Notch Persson. The game title says it all. You mine and you craft. Anyway, SNK fans created something awesome for this indie game. Introducing the 3D maneuver gear mod.

I did it mom...

This mod enables you, the player, to strap on the 3D manoeuver gear and zip past trees and mountains like they do in the anime (except for the mountain part). It sorts of reminded me of Spider-man swinging around from building to building.

And if you think that it’s not fun enough, it gets better. The Attack on Titan mod brings you actual Titans to fight with.

Mikasa to the rescue!

Imagine zooming past them and trying to get close enough to cut the nape of their neck, when suddenly you get grab and then eaten alive with your blood splattering all over the place. Not really a very nice sight to see isn’t it? But if you care for your computer dearly and don’t want it to lag, I suggest the next best thing or actually, the closest thing you can get to live the life of a soldier in SNK.

Main Menu

The Attack On Titan Tribute Game is inspired by yours truly and was created by Feng Li. It lets you on the experience of a soldier within the walls and you are able to free roam while killing Titans along the way. There are a few maps to choose from and also various players for you to sortie like Mikasa, Eren, Levi and you could also play as Eren’s Titan form.

Double Kill!

The game is still being worked on, as the creator wants to replicate it as close as possible to the anime. I remember playing it for the first time and was instantly slaughtered while trying to figure out the keys, as the controls are fiddly. Play with your friends on the Multiplayer mode as it really is much more fun than dying alone.

Anyway, I wish you guys the best of luck in your Titan killing spree. And if you have any fan-made SNK products that I miss out, please do say it in the comments.

Ja minna, mata ne~
