My Eccentric Anime Life (Part 1): Family

Note: The following post features crossovers of several anime for the purpose of creativity and entertainment.

Suppose one day I wake up to find an anime version of myself staring back at me in the mirror, I wonder how I would react in that situation. Not that I've never imagined that possibility (?) which I assume would be equivalent to eternal happiness. Then again, that might just acknowledge the fact that I've got nothing else better to do with my life than fantasising 24/7. Anyway, since anime is a must-have in my opinion (hey it's got healing effects) I shall proceed to indulge in my ever-increasing obsession with that wonderful medicine by imagining my life as an anime character.

I would probably be a freshman in high school. Is there anybody who doesn't like being 15? I would like to think that being 15 is when the most fun and exciting events representing the core of every high schooler's youth begin. Nope, there won't be monsters, ghosts or UFOs lurking around in my anime life. I mean, I would still prefer to be a 'normal' student instead of having some secret identity which could be interesting but that fad wouldn't really last in my opinion and I might just die of over-exhaustion before I could do anything else. Confused? So am I. Let's move on.

My anime mother would call me down for breakfast. Let's see, who shall I ask to be my anime mother? Hiroshi's mother from Barakamon would be ideal. Well, since I don't quite remember which other anime I've watched that features a prominent mother figure...let's just use her for convenience (?). Anyway, Hiroshi's mother is not only a great source of nice homecooked meals, but a true comedienne. The extensive acts that she's put up to prove her points may not be the most effective, yet they make good comic relief. Oh, I think that she might have been a professional wrestler in her previous life. Don't tell her that. I still want my breakfast.

Over at the dining table, my anime father begins his usual routine of reading the paper over breakfast. From a corner, I notice my three anime sisters from Minami-ke squabbling coherently despite having their mouths full. Apparently, there was this late-night television drama which showed a couple behaving intimately by the fireplace. Not wanting to be involved, I drink my miso soup as quietly as possible. The girls stare at my presence but I make sure that my counter-stare is a thousand times more menacing than theirs combined.

My anime pet cat comes from Azumanga Daioh - Maya! I've always wanted a cat, and Maya makes a wonderful companion. He clings onto my right leg to get my attention. The sisters' ongoing squabbling is driving me crazy, so I've decided to send them away with a gush of hurricane. However, in the process my anime parents get sent away as well. Peace and quiet at last. Maya purrs softly as I lay out his favourite sardines and milk. I realise that there are still leftovers on the table, so I ask my alternative (?) anime family - Sakura, Touya and Fujitaka to join me for breakfast.

Well, it is almost time to get ready for school. I quickly clear away the remaining dishes and change into my school uniform. I haven't thought of my high school yet but that can wait till the next part. Meanwhile, my anime parents and three sisters are still floating about somewhere. Oh, I've just realised that I didn't mention who the anime father was. Well, that is no longer important. It probably wasn't even important in the first place.

Eccentrically Yours.
