5 Questionably Cute Pokémon
Ash might live by the slogan "Gotta catch 'em all!" but the truth is I'm not that ambitious. I just want to catch all the cute ones. Unlike him, I have my priorities straightened out. Pokémon like Pikachu, Togepi, Vulpix, Mew, Dratini, among others, are acknowledged as the reigning kings and queens of kawaii. And I need them in my gang.
However, there are some which don't fit the conventional standards of cute that I still consider super adorable and worthy of being initiated into that coveted club.

Am I the only one who thinks Haunter is actually cute? Like
I-wanna-hug-you cute? I have a thing for those claw-like hands that look like
they were perfectly made to hold and eat char
siew baos. In the anime, it has a very mischievous but pure personality and
is always grinning. How can you not love a Pokémon
that finds fun and laughter in all situations?
Ludicolo
Yes, this Mexican looking green duck thing is on the list. I
did say ‘questionably’, right? At a first glance, Ludicolo seems to have zero appeal
whatsoever. It’s big and it’s wearing a tacky fur suit over Shrek-hued skin.
*shudders* But its Pokédex entry
stole my heart:
Ludicolo, the
Carefree Pokémon. If Ludicolo hears festive music, all its muscles fill with
energy. It can't help breaking into a dance.
Ludicolo is a happy and simple guy. Good music is all it needs. Ludicolo is like the free-spirited hippie of the Pokémon world AKA it is awesome.
Golbat
Golbat
Look at this little fella. At first, I was a bit concerned
that its mouth opens to reveal a completely HOLLOW body. But you know what, let’s
ignore its ridiculous anatomy and just focus on how hysterically funny it
looks. In fact, Golbat himself looks like he is finding something mightily
funny.
Primeape
My love for Primeape is boundless. He has round, fingerless
fists that he waves around angrily but it doesn’t look intimidating at all
unfortunately, because they are… Very round, basically. I just can’t get over
how round they are. (I swear I don’t have some weird Pokémon paw fixation) He
is literally a angry, furry pig ball that boxes. Don’t deny that it sounds cute.
Staryu
What exactly is it that I find so endearing about a
faceless, angular starfish? Its absurdly out-of-place voice, that's what. Staryu is just a
simple star till it opens its mouth (wherever that is) and lets out its
signature ‘HYAH!’ war cry, transforming it into the baddest, most macho star in
the universe. Staryu is fearless and fabulous despite its ambiguous looks and
that’s why I can’t help but love it.

Yes, Golbat is extremely questionable. Even I myself wonder why I find it cute.
ReplyDeleteHmm, the questionable ones might be Magikarp and Gengar. At least to me. But I love Shedinja! (: It might not be so cute if it existed in real life though, since it's an exoskeleton :p
